I want to buy a classic car but im only willing to spend $1,500. Im not look for a car that has been revamped. I want it to look old age so that i can remake it myself. I live in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) and really hoping for a 1969-1972 mustang. But doesnt have to be a mustang

Tell you for free that 1500 is just going to be the down payment!

A lot of deals are done person to person. You need to join the local clubs and owners websites. That way you will get to hear when someone is thinning out the fleet, maybe deciding they have more projects than they can ever finish. And with luck you will hear about them BEFORE they get advertised in the press or on ebay.

I’m thinking about purchasing an old car, but I haven’t found something that really stands out. I admire the mustang fastbacks from the 60s, classic pontiacs (firebird), and corvettes but they’re too expensive. I’m looking for something unique and was reliable back in its day. Let me know what your favorite models are, your experience driving it (if any), and just any ideas that come to mind. Thanks a bunch.

Look at mid 1960s 2 door Dodge Darts and Chevy Monte Carlos (70-72 ONLY). Montes had all-but sheet metal twins under Oldsmobile (Cutlass); Buick (Regal) and Pontiac (Grand Prix), which makes the type very easy to find and running models with great small block 350 cu in engines can be had under $4k.

MOPAR cars like Dart and Valiant were close in style and performance to Chevy Box Novas that are more highly prized (and priced).

Classic cars are worth a lot and therefore the insurance would be high. Sports cars have high insurance too. So do new drivers. 3 things that cause high insurance combined to make very high insurance.

I have a 1965 mustang and recently wanted to look up it’s history. I know that my grandfather tried to keep it all original but there have been a few questions raised about things such as whether it had seat belts or not originally since it has a bench. I know on newer vehicles you could look up the vin but I can’t find a site to look up classic cars on. Any help is much appreciated.

Your not going to find much history, best to just ask family and see if they have any paper work on it.. they did all come with seatbelts from the factory, but all factory records have been destroyed..

email the owner of the 65-66 Mustang registry..

I love, love, love classic cars. That is partly because I like vintage things and partly because they are sooooo beautiful. I’ve experienced some trouble because nobody around me knows anything about classic cars to answer all the questions I have, so I’ve decided to learn about it myself. If anyone knows of any websites or books I can check out so that I can learn more about my favorite cars I would appreciate it. Thanks for any help you can give.

A great website to visit is www.oldride.com. They have an extensive directory of all things classic car related. There are classifieds, a library full of information regarding individual makes and models, and event directory (in case you did want to visit some local car shows and pick the owners brain), and they also have a question and answers forum. There are a ton of great books out there, too many to list here. One thing you could try is visiting your local library and find a book there that interests you. Have fun and enjoy.

Bullitt is a 1968 thriller film starring Steve McQueen. It was distributed by Warner Bros.

The director was Peter Yates. The story was adapted for the screen by Alan Trustman and Harry Kleiner, based on the novel titled Mute Witness (1963) by Robert L. Fish (aka Robert L. Pike). Lalo Schifrin wrote the original music score, a memorable mix of jazz, brass and percussion.

The movie won the Academy Award for Best Film Editing (Frank P. Keller) and was nominated for Best Sound. Writers Trustman and Kleiner won a 1969 Edgar Award from the Mystery Writers of America for Best Motion Picture Screenplay.

Bullitt is most-remembered for its central car chase scene through the streets of downtown San Francisco, one of the earliest and most influential car chase sequences in movie history.[1] The scene had Bullitt in a dark “Highland Green” 1968 Ford Mustang G.T.390 Fastback, chasing two hit-men in a “Tuxedo Black” 1968 Dodge Charger R/T 440 Magnum. (In honor of the Mustang in the film, the Ford Motor Company produced a limited edition 2001 Ford Mustang GT “Bullitt Mustang,” which took styling cues from the ‘68 movie car and even mimicked its exhaust note).

I’ve been looking around, and none of the insurance websites i have been on are very clear…

You can get classic car insurance at any age, but here is the catch,
You MUST have a regular car insured on a regular policy to get specific classic car insurance.
You may not use a classic car to drive to work etc.
I have had classic cars since i was a kid and currently have 3 insured through "silver wheels"
and a separate policy with a regular insurance company.
And yes classic car insurance is cheaper than regular insurance, but the classic car usually has to be appraised every 3 years to keep your coverage.
