what would be better in mileage for a classic car?
I have a classic car (67 impala) that has a 350 small block and a TH-350 tranny (3 speed).
I am currently at my parents and want to go home and am asking if I should take the highway at 100KM\H (60MPH) or take the back roads with more stops going on average 60KM\H (35MPH).
Just asking to see what would take less gas to consume.

definitely the highway. even though you’re doing 60, your engine is still at a low rpm in high gear, and using less gas because of which. if you take the backroads, you’ll go through constant starting and stopping. every time you have to accelerate from a stop, you’ll burn a lot of gas(especially with a 350).

highway.
You are most likely be on 3rd gear on the hwy and 2nd on the road.

highway is better, uses more gas getting up to speed after stopping. a steady 60mph shouldnt get that bad of mileage.

The route with fewer stops would probably be better.

Take the highway but travel at 90 km/hr. That’s the speed at which your car gets optimal fuel economy.
