Never did Bonneville. Been in the area though. Bremerton is a bit of a drag, airport tracks usually are but if it’s all you got I guess you use it. I’d think that 105 is about tops in a mini-van, no wonder it was scary. SOVREN won’t let kit cars of any kind run. He could do a lapping day if he wanted but the roll bar might be problematic. Most tracks/organizations want a SCCA legal roll cage for a roadster and that can be a pain in the *ss for a streetable car. I can understand why he doesn’t.

My last comment got all messed up, I meant to say, I also race at Pacific Raceways. I have probably seen you and your car! Bremerton is closer but is too slow. My friend owns a Cobra kit car, but refuses to race it. Very nice video,Mach1.

Pencilneck22, Have you ever been to the Bonneville salt flats? I did it in a mini van and made it up to 105 before it just got too scary.
Would love to go in my Mustang (s)!

      Some nice footage …
Some nice footage here. Portland International. I know quite a few of the cars as they are based at my home track Pacific Raceways, Kent. Portland and PR are the home tracks of part of SOVREN, our local vintage racing club. See their web site for race dates.

Two corrections. The Cobras are kits with the exception of the red (early) 289 in the show and shine. The Studebaker stock car has a 289 Stude engine not a 283 Chev. Studebaker started using Chev engines some time after this car was built.

The pix of most of the race cars looks like it was taken at Laguna Seca.

Folks, if you really like cars of this caliber, you have to take a once in a lifetime trip to that track. You WILL experience sensory overload, even in the parking lot (where Ferraris just about equal the number of Nissans and Toyota. Mmmm…the smell of octane and a symphony of powerful high revving thundering engines, where even in the pit, Ferraris battle Corvettes, Fords and Dodges for the best sounding engine.

back in “63″ or “64″ I remember seeing a GT 40 come driving down main street in my home town! The early studybakers had 283′ and 327’s that where studebaker engines. The first vet that I got to drive was a 63 “Z06″ back in 67. glad you got to use the “wayback machine” for a day!
