  • Classic Game Room HD – NEO-GEO CD console review

Posted by admin on June 13th, 2010 and filed under classic games | 25 Comments »

Classic Game Room HD reviews the SNK NEO-GEO CD from 1994. This CD version of the amazing Neo-Geo AES plays many of the same games in CD form. Plagued by awful loading times thanks to the 1x speed CD drive in the game system, the NeoGeo CD is the least popular Neo Geo out there but CGR thinks it is a good buy for those looking for SNK games and Japanese release for a better price. The Neo Geo CD has no region encoding and will play Japan region Japanese Neo Geo video games (I’ve only tested with an NTSC Neo Geo CD). The Neo Geo CD has composite video, S-Video and stereo audio. Plays audio CDs. Neo Geo CD consoles can be had for a fraction of the price that the Neo Geo AES and Neo-Geo MVS sell for. Games are usually much less money as well. This CGR review of the Neo Geo CD shows the game console in HD with numerous NeoGeo CD games.

Classic Game Room HD – DARKEST OF DAYS review Xbox 360

Posted by admin on May 18th, 2010 and filed under classic games | 25 Comments »

Classic Game Room HD reviews DARKEST OF DAYS for Xbox 360 where you fight your way through history in this very interesting and bizarre first person shooter! Ever wanted to tear through the American Civil War with a futuristic machine gun, or run through the trenches in WW1 with superballs that save people from being wiped out of time??? Well, if you can take the technical glitches and jerky gameplay then you may really dig Darkest of Days for Xbox 360. This CGR review of Darkest of Days has gameplay from this science fiction / historical shooter where you engage in combat during the Civil War, WW1, WW2 and more. Antique weapons and sci fi artillery are at your disposal, but not all at once. Darkest of Days may just be the weirdest FPS you’ll ever play with a lengthy storyline and odd animation scenes. It’s not for everyone, but for those who enjoyed the Highlander TV show or Quantum Leap it may be right up your alley.

Classic Game Room HD – BEN 10 ALIEN FORCE for Wii review

Posted by admin on April 28th, 2010 and filed under classic games | 25 Comments »

Classic Game Room HD reviews BEN 10 ALIEN FORCE for Nintendo Wii video game console. Based on the popular Cartoon Network TV show, Ben 10 is a side scrolling beat ‘em up video game with a 3D style and multiple character changing gameplay elements. This CGRHD review of Ben 10 Alien Force has gameplay footage from Ben 10 Alien Force on Wii (also available on Nintendo DS), showing Spidermonkey at the Waterfall, how to use Big Chill and Jet Ray and Kevin and more. How does Ben 10 Alien Force compare to other side scroller beat em ups like Streets of Rage? Your character has an Omnitirix to change into monster or alien forms (whatever they are, I don’t watch the show). This is a fun game and sells at a value price, it may not be the best video game ever made but it keeps to a relatively faithful 2D side scrolling beatem up style while adding some new elements. Plays acceptably with the Wii controller and nunchuck. You can also disable the motion controls which is what I did. Ben 10 is rated E for everyone and is clearly a kids game, but older games looking for some new games on the Wii can find enjoyment with it as well. Classic Game Room HD reviews Wii games as a Wii reviewer reviewing games like Ben 10 Alien Force on Nintendo Wii published by D3.

Classic Game Room HD – TANK-TASTIC! for Xbox 360 review

Posted by admin on April 2nd, 2010 and filed under classic games | 25 Comments »

Classic Game Room HD reviews TANK-TASTIC! for Xbox 360, available for download in the indie games section of Xbox Live. Tank Tastic is a Robotron-style game that uses twin stick style controls for tank mayhem. CGR doesn’t care for the graph paper “look how indie it is” look to the game, but the gameplay itself is fantastic. Your tank cannot fire very quickly, and if you hold down the shoot button it fires in three shot bursts that take an eternity to reload. Therefore you spend more time in Tank-Tastic dodging enemy fire and aiming rather than just gunning away. Four player local multiplayer makes Tank-Tastic a fantastic party game with addictive gameplay and solid controls. There are challenge levels (many of which are damned hard) and some game play variations as well. Tank-Tastic is a good example of a game in the indie marketplace that could easily fit into the more mainstream crowd with a simple, time tested style of gameplay mixed with some clever, unique elements of its own. Those who enjoy Geometry Wars, Robotron 2084 of Burn, Zombie Burn should give Tank-Tastic a look. This CGR review of Tank-Tastic on Xbox 360 has gameplay from Tank Tastic showing Tank-Tastic! game play in HD action. It’s a twin stick video game shooter with tanks!

Classic Game Room HD – NEO-GEO CDZ console review

Posted by admin on March 12th, 2010 and filed under classic games | 25 Comments »

Classic Game Room HD reviews the rare NEO-GEO CDZ video game console from SNK. The NeoGeo CDZ plays Neo Geo CD games but has much faster loading times, as demonstrated in this video. This is a hardware review showing the Neo-Geo CDZ game system next to the Neo Geo CD game system showing the difference between the units. Neo Geo CDZ was released in 1996 in Japan and is a rarity in the US which jacks up the price tag of an already pricey 1990’s game console.
